What are success secrets? These are the qualities that allow Achievers to rocket to the top of their chosen fields. Importantly, since you know these qualities (or soon will!), you can apply them in your own life and achieve your own Super Success!

For example, do you want to be a millionaire? Do you want to improve your family life? Do you want to quicken your career progress? Do you want to start a business of your own? Do you want to improve your health? Do you want to improve your social life?

The Success Secrets of Super-Achievers are the keys that unlock the doors for anything that you really want to achieve.

You can achieve success, as did history’s greatest legends. But first you must commit to success. Take the time to study these Success Secrets of Super-Achievers and apply them to your own life. Before you read further, know this…

First, Success happens in your Mind. Then, Success follows in your Reality.

Success Secret Number 1 Super-Achievers Never Dwell on Failure.

What you dwell upon grows! That’s why you must not dwell on failure. Keep your eyes on the prize. Fear of failure is the greatest barrier to Success. Think about this: All great achievement comes after setback and failure. Setbacks are just steps on the way to the success you seek. If you want to succeed, you must stay focused on your goals even when faced with failure.

Success Secret Number 2 Super-Achievers Take Action in Pursuit of their Goals.

Either you take action and commit yourself to a life of Super Achievement or you will by default commit yourself to a life of mediocrity. There really is no middle ground. You embrace Super Achievement… you take action… you make it happen… you make super achievement your goal, or you are saying, “I want to be mediocre.” The choice is absolutely up to you. Taking action or not taking action clearly indicates which way you’re going.

Success Secret Number 3 Super-Achievers Speak the Language of Power.

Super-Achievers know that words determine what they believe, how they act and how others react to them. You must communicate powerfully to yourself and others. “I’ll be back.” And with those words in the movie The Terminator, Arnold Schwarzenegger cemented his win as governor of California nearly 20 years later. Three simple words locked him in the minds of enough voters as a strong, resolute leader who would be strong during times of crises.

Meet Darryl Mobley— For nearly 25 years, super-achievers have praised ” Winner’s Life & Business Coach” Darryl Mobley. You may know him as the founder and publisher of one of the nation’s leading magazines. Darryl Mobley is brilliant when it comes to the strategies and action steps that lead to living a better life. Or, as he puts it, “How To Create A Life Worth Living. Darryl Mobley teaches people How To Create The Life Of Their Dreams - personally and professionally - with more happiness, more income, better relationships and more success. Clone a Cat, Go To Jail

…or at least pay a fine. That’s the goal of animal welfare activists who announced recently that they are seeking state and federal restrictions on the small but growing pet-cloning industry.

The effort has been spearheaded by the American Anti-Vivisection Society [AAVS] (in suburban Philadelphia), and takes aim at companies such as Genetic Savings and Clone Inc., the California company that began to fill orders for cloned cats last year. The clones - which have sold for $50,000 each - are genetic duplicates of a customer’s deceased pet and represent the leading edge of an emerging sector that advocates predict could eventually reap billions of dollars for corporate cloners. The movie, the 6th Day , starring the erstwhile governator, Arnold Schwarzenegger, features pet cloning businesses in a shopping mall during its opening sequences. It may soon be the case that life imitates art in this respect and pet cloning franchises may start popping up in common shopping venues. But not if the AAVS have their way.

Should Cloning Be Allowed?

Several companies are racing to compete with Genetic Savings and Clone, the current industry leader, which has produced about a half-dozen cloned cats and aims to achieve the more difficult goal of cloning a dog this year. Some companies are already selling fish genetically engineered to glow in the dark, while one has said it will soon produce cats engineered to not cause reactions in people allergic to them.

The AAVS petitioned the Department of Agriculture to regulate pet-cloning companies as it does other animal research labs under the Animal Welfare Act. The act demands minimum standards of animal care and detailed reporting of the fates of laboratory animals. They have also been working with a California lawmaker to introduce state legislation that would ban the sale of cloned or genetically engineered pets.

Are Grieving Pet Owners Being Taken Advantage Of?

“Pet cloning companies offer false hope of never having to let go of a pet and are causing harm to animals in the process,” the AAVS concluded in a report, “Pet Cloning: Separating Facts From Fluff.”

Managers of Genetics Savings and Clone denied emphatically that their enterprise takes advantage of grieving pet owners or harms animals. “We bend over backwards to make sure people are doing this for the right reasons,” said company president Lou Hawthorne. Nonetheless, he said, “we’re open to additional oversight, provided it makes sense.”

The Risks Involved For Cloned Animals

Previously cloned animals have suffered high rates of biological abnormalities and unexpected deaths during gestation and in the first days of life. Hawthorne said that has not been the case with cats. But critics said the process raises other concerns, including the welfare of egg donor and surrogate-mother animals that must undergo multiple surgeries as part of the process of making clones.

The Risks To Owners

The potential for consumer fraud is also an issue. Clones tend to be ordered by people who are grieving the loss of a much-loved pet and who may have unrealistically high expectations of their clones. Although they share identical genetic profiles, clones do not always resemble originals because coat patterns are not strictly genetically determined. Personalities and behavior patterns are even less predictable on the basis of genetics alone. All personalities are products of some basic genetics, and the environment in which the animal is raised and, since a particular environment can never be perfectly recreated (there’s always a random element) personalities will, most likely, be different as well in any clone. “Consumers are likely under the impression that a clone is a carbon copy. We believe they are being misled,” AAVS policy analyst Crystal Miller-Spiegel said.

David Magnus, director of Stanford University’s Center for Biomedical Ethics, spoke more bluntly. “People are not getting what they think they’re getting,” Magnus said. “This is a $50,000 rip-off.”

There is certainly a war of words beginning between the cloning businesses and the AAVS. It’s likely to become a more contentious issue as there’s potentially a lot of money to be made (at $50,000 per kitten) and companies may see the AAVS’s concerns as hurting those potential profits. It’s going to be a case of “Watch This Space”.

Conclusion

Personally, however, cloning is one option I’m not in favor of but it might be for you if you’re looking at replacing a pet that’s died. As I mentioned above, the clone may look identical to your lost companion but the personality will likely be different. That’s not to say the personality will be better or worse, just different. Look at it this way - how many sets of identical twins have the same personalities despite having the same genetic make-up and being raised in the same environment? There are always random factors involved. Every personality is unique and passes by this way only once.

If you find yourself in a position where you would consider cloning to be an option that will help you cope with the death of your cat, you should do some background reading first. The National Geographic have a news item on pet cloning and some people’s reaction to it.

Gary Nugent, a software engineer by profession, has been a life-long animal lover, especially of cats and is the webmaster of http://www.cat-oholics.com - a site that helps you make the best choices to keep your cat healthy, happy and long-lived. The site contains information about cats in general, health issues that can affect them, some of their weird and wonderful behavior patterns, their history, and how to choose various products, supplies and toys for your feline furball. And, not to forget about you…there are a few things on the site to keep cat owners amused as well.

What do you want out of life….success or a good story? Sadly too many of us opt for the story.

As you know, we’ve been getting up at dawn every day to do the monkey bars. My daughter is obsessed. She’s consistently gotten 6 out of 7 bars, but that last one has eluded her.

This morning, she opted for a story, instead of success. The first story was that I needed to stop cheering and be quite. Next, it was that I wasn’t cheering “that’s the problem”, then the first 2 bars were too slippery. We never did get to global warming as the reason for being unable to do them, but she’s only 5. Global warming isn’t on her radar yet!
The bottom line? Today we didn’t even get to the 6th bar. The “story” was more important than success.

How about you? What great stories do you have? You father was an alcoholic? You were poor? Your boss hates you? The President is a failure? The oil companies are out to rob you.

Well, those all have the makings of a great “story”. But do they have the ability to create your success? No.

So, it’s a choice. When talking to yourself and to your friends, do you tell them your tales of woe? Or do you tell them about the amazing class you’re taking that’s teaching you valuable new skills? Or about the great book you’re reading that is giving you wonderful personal power for achieving goals?

Do you talk about how thrilled you are with the success you’re achieving?

As I told my daughter today. It’s a choice. You can whine and complain about the color of the sky….or you can be positive, focused and create amazing success. You know what, she’s only 5…but she got it. She turned herself around and gave it one more try. No, she didn’t actually get the 7th bar today. But she’s positive and focused and ready to get up at dawn tomorrow to give it another try.

How about you? It ’s a choice. It’s your stories or your amazing life.

If you choose your life, I’d like you to do something today - for you.

Write down your story. Write down how awful it was. Write your anger, your hurt, your frustration. If you can, cry your tears. Write it all down. Don’t leave out one single thing. Because this is the last time you will ever tell this story. Get it all out.

Now just sit for a moment and allow the peace of letting it go take over your body mind and spirit.

Once that’s done, get a match and set your story on fire. Go on. Do it! Release it to the Great I AM. You don’t need it any more.

Now, out of habit, you might find yourself starting to tell the story again. Don’t! Stop yourself. And focus on success. Focus on life. Focus on joy. There is so much to be grateful for. I know you can find at least one thing. Focus on that.

Now go out and make your life about your success. Not about your “old news” stories.
Wishing you great abundance and joy!

It’s a question that always comes up when planning and budgeting for a trip. Is the extra expense necessary? Why not save on that premium and spend it on something fun instead? Sure, you could do that, but remember that the cost of purchasing travel insurance is minuscule compared with potentially catastrophic financial losses you could sustain if things go awry. For instance, if you were to break your leg skiing in the U.S. you could face a bill of anything from $5,000 to $50,000 (£2,500-£25,000) depending on how serious the break is and where you are treated.

California Governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, did break his leg skiing and was in hospital for five days at a rate of anything from $6,000-$9,000 per day - just for a room and the basics. Add to that the x-rays, tests, medications, physical therapy and crutches. That’s all before paying for the expertise of a surgeon and anesthetist. The total bill could be anything from $10,000 to $16,000 per day! (£5,000-£8,000). There would be follow-up visits as well, but hopefully by then you would have been repatriated to the UK. Do you carry that sort of money in your back pocket - or would you prefer to have the peace of mind of travel insurance with winter sports coverage?

When the President of the United States travels he has an advance team of Secret Service agents to check everything he might come into contact with for security issues. They work out worst case scenarios, potential hazards, and emergency and evacuation plans. Unless you are someone very important you won’t have the benefit of your own personal advance team!

Schools these days send out ‘advance teams’ of teachers to do security checks of accommodations and locations to be visited by children on school trips. Many children are being deprived of fun, educational and enlightening trips because teachers are scared to death of the liability and would rather avoid it. What if someone stubs their toe, or is emotionally traumatis ed when a bully brandishes a spider?

There are many crazy reasons why you have to get insurance these days. Pancake Races were cancelled in several towns in the UK this year. For centuries people have simply grabbed a frying pan and run through their high streets tossing pancakes to the finish line. They even did it over cobble stone streets! Nowadays someone has to be liable if things go wrong… There have to be risk assessments, fees paid to local governments and paid medical personnel on hand - just in case.

To see some ridiculous instances of lack of personal responsibility look at the Stella Awards - which are given for the most frivolous lawsuits filed in the U.S. They were named after Stella Leibeck, the woman who famously sued McDonalds after she spilled hot coffee in her lap and sustained third degree burns. No mention that maybe it was a little, um, ‘careless’ to place scalding hot coffee between her legs in the first place. Her lawyers won a pay out of close to three million dollars, but a judge later restored a degree of sanity and reduced the amount to around $650,000. Another benefit of travel insurance is that, depending on the policy, it may carry liability benefits of up to £2 million for accidental injury to third parties and property.

It’s the accidents and unforeseen events we can’t avoid that make travel insurance essential. Bags do get lost, people get sick and valuables are lost or stolen. You wouldn’t dream of leaving your house or car uninsured, so why would you go on holiday without travel insurance?

Maybe we should enjoy our travels while we still can… If health and safety issues continue to shut down all our avenues of pleasure we may end up living inside bubbles and no longer have any need for travel insurance!

Going back to school is as appealing as the scent of rotten banana peels, and, combined with the spring weather, studying for finals seems nearly impossible. But earning your degree is one of the most important and best decisions you can do now in order to secure your future. Just ask the A-list celebrities and athletes who’ve continued their education.

Many of Hollywood’s most athletic and most talented have prepared for the day when their playing/acting/singing careers end, and real life begins. Though some celebrities earned their degrees the traditional method-through attending university and college campuses, more and more celebs are opting for online distance learning courses as well.

Stars on the Field, in the Online Classroom

• Left-handed MLB pitcher, Al Leiter, knows more than just how to pitch a perfect game. In addition to being the only major leaguer to defeat all 30 teams, Leiter, a retired Marlin, also earned his associate’s degree through Penn State University’s World Campus program.

• What’s 7 feet tall, wears purple and appeared in 1994’s “Blue Chips”? You guessed it: Shaquille O’Neal. In addition to a NBA Championship, O’Neal also holds a bachelor’s degree from Lousianna State University. But the Shaq-Attack’s education doesn’t end there; O’Neal continued his education, earning an online MBA through University of Phoenix in 2005. Upon earning his MBA, O’Neal, A Miami Beach reserve officer, announced his desire to pursue a degree in criminal justice.

• Retired Phoenix Suns forward, Jalen Rose, is a paradigm athlete-scholar. Rose, who was recruited to the NBA from University of Michigan during his junior year of college, was determined to earn his degree. He enrolled in online classes from the University of Maryland University College (UMUC). There, Rose earned his Bachelor’s in Management Studies. Now retired, Rose continues to support education through the Jalen Rose Foundation, which offers five $10,000 scholarships to Michigan-area public school students each year.

• On the ice, she popularized the “I” spin position and wows crowds with her difficult jump sequences. As a competitive athletic and professional ice skater, Sasha Cohen understands the importance of nutrition, exercise, and a balance of the two. That’s why this young Olympic medalist is focusing on earning her undergraduate degree in Nutrition to Pennsylvania State University’s distance learning program.

• Former University of Nebraska football star and wide receiver Bobby Newcombe enrolled in an online master’s in business administration program through University of Phoenix. While enrolled in the online program, Newcome played for both the Indianapolis Colts as well as the Baltimore Ravens. After his two-year career in NFL, Newcombe returned to the education field. Currently, Newcombe serves as an enrollment manager for his alma mater, the University of Phoenix.

Beauty, Fame and Brains

• You’ve seen her in Lizzie Maguire, and your kid sister probably adores her line of clothing, Stuff by Duff. But what you probably don’t know is that Hillary Duff, Disney channel actress-turned-pop-singer-turned-entrepreneur, is currently pursuing her college education. Between recording pop hits, rehearsing for an upcoming film and designing products for her clothing line, Duff chooses from classes in liberal arts, computer science and management through Harvard’s Distance Extension program.

Celebrities on Campus

• He’s famous for his commitment to body building, and most frequently associated with the quote, “I’ll be back” but Mr. Olympia/actor/Governor of California also dedicated himself to his studies. Arnold Schwarzenegger earned a degree in International Fitness Marketing and Business Administration from University of Wisconsin.

• If the words Griffyndor, Hufflepuff, Slytherin and Ravenclaw mean anything to you, then you’ll know Harry Potter series author J.K. Rowling captivates audiences young and old with her imaginative writing. Before Rowling’s wizarding series developed, she earned a Bachelor’s degree in French from Exeter University.

• Oscar winner Jennifer Connolly has been in critically acclaimed films including Requiem for a Dream, A Beautiful Mind and, most recently, Blood Diamond. Connolly began her undergraduate studies at Yale, but later transferred to equally prestigious Stanford University where she earned her BA in English. Additionally, Connolly is fluent in both Italian and French.

• He’s most often playing opposite fellow actor, Rob Schneider in comedic films such as The Hot Chick, Big Daddy and The Waterboy. But actor Adam Sandler started and honed his comedic capabilities at his alma mater, New York University. While there, Sandler pursued his degree in Fine Arts, and regularly performed at local comedy clubs.

Tommy Lee Jones is not only an Academy Award-winning actor, director and Broadway star, but he is also a cum laude graduate of Harvard’s class of 1969. While earning his degree in English, Jones played offensive tackle on Harvard’s undefeated football team and was hallmates with future Vice President Al Gore.

• Most famous for her stunning Barbie doll physique, The Girls Next Door star Bridget Marquardt is no dumb blonde. This Playboy Playmate graduated from CSU Sacramento with a B.A. in Communications, with a concentration in Public Relations. In 2001, Marquardt received her Master’s in Communications from University of Pacific in Stockton, CA. Arguably one of Hugh Hefner’s most educated girlfriends, Marquardt continued her education even further by enrolling in a graduate level broadcast communications program through UCLA’s Extension program.

This article is written primarily for the beginner bodybuilder. This could be someone who has been training for a very short period of time with some initial knowledge of weight training, but who is unsure of what they’re doing, or someone who has never picked up a weight.

A lot of beginners start out by looking for a “Magic Bullet” (usually in the way of supplements) that will pack on kilograms of muscle in days. Usually these people have been training only 3-4 weeks, training everyday, with no real solid knowledge of required protein intake, recovery or kilojoule intake. To top it off, the training routine they use is hardly ever logical for their experience level!

Generally these “trainees” have no guidance, are over-training and generally burn out quickly, they subsequently give up. There’s no reason for this! With this article, my aim is to give people a logical guide to starting out and to give them direction to long term success. By getting them off the ground in an appropriate way, maybe they’ll stay in the game for awhile.

Walking into a gym without knowing what you are doing can be very intimidating, especially if there is no one to guide you. A large number of new lifters find themselves in that situation or are training at home on a cheap lightweight bench with a bar and a few plates. Mistakes are therefore common. Mistakes could include the types of exercises you’re doing, how long you work out session, the number of days per week, exercise form and bad eating habits - too little food, or not the right type.

The first thing should not be to pick up a weight, but instead to set some goals. Why? Goals give you direction and also hold you accountable for achieving them, especially if you tell others about them. What sort of results do you want? Why are you working out to start with? Most guys want to build some size and reduce body fat, to look leaner.

Some people want to lose fat and tighten up, retaining and adding some but not a lot of muscle. Regardless of your aims, you need to wright it down, as opposed to keeping it in your head - otherwise your likely to change it later on when results are slow.

Aim to make you goals:

S pecific - know exactly what you want

M esurable - take records and measure your progress

A ttractive - you must really want what your aiming for

R ealistic - make sure it’s achievable

T ime frame - you don’t want to gain 10kg of muscle, you want to gain 10kg of muscle by X date

With the huge amount of information available today, there is no real reason not to have a sensible yet basic concept of what your aims are. I plan to cover some of the basic concepts now, however there is a lot more to know as well, which will require further guidance.

Basic Concepts

Many new bodybuilders, regardless of age, start after seeing a photo of a current/past bodybuilder or actor . Examples are Arnold Schwarzenegger or Brad Pitt in the movie Fight Club. Naturally, you want to have a body like the person in the picture, and as quickly as possible too. Always be the best you that you can be.

Pro bodybuilders have good genetics and drugs on their side. That is no excuse however for not building good size and possibly even competing, using natural methods. Just be realistic about your goals. So, what can one expect in terms of gains (muscle) and losses (body-fat)?

Every person is different to the next, we have different lifestyles, and age plays a big role, exact numbers are therefore impossible to quote. Without being specific, most new lifters see impressive size and strength gains in the first six months of training.

In terms of numbers, depending greatly on the factors listed above, 5-7 kg. of muscle is possible (11-15lbs.). Seven kilograms would be high end, thus requiring some strict effort. The above estimate is based on the assumption your plans are natural bodybuilding, drugs are a personal choice, but certainly not recommended. Anabolic steroids can weaken the immune system - the body’s defense against germs and diseases. They can also lead to liver damage or cancer, regardless of your age. Brain function and bone growth can also be affected. I’m a natural bodybuilder, I’m not going to pretend to be an expert on steroids affects on muscle gain, it does however make sense from a knowledge standpoint to be aware of what they are and what they do.

Your First Routine

In the table below you will find a classic 3-days a week, full-body routine, training Monday-Wednesday-Friday. It is useful mainly for getting a feel for the exercises and working on your form. Beyond this it is of little use, the reason being is this type of routine allows for next to no recovery.

Given you’re just starting out, you need to understand how critical proper recovery is. Growth will not occur if sufficient recovery is not allowed for, regardless of your level of experience. Recovery cannot happen from visiting the gym 6 days a week for hours on end.

The workout below is useful as discussed, and should be used for the first month. This is to allow you to develop good form, rep performance and getting a feel for what exercise works what muscles. After your first month, you should use a split routine, this will allow you to train much harder and to apply more exercises. A split type of routine enhances recovery significantly.

EXERCISE

Crunches - 20-30 Reps, 2 Sets

Squats - 12-15 Reps, 3 Sets

Leg Curls - 12-15 Reps, 3 Sets

Flat Bench Presses - 10-12 Reps, 3 Sets

Chin-ups - 10-12 Reps, 3 Sets

Presses Behind The Neck - 12-15 Reps, 3 Sets

Tricep Push-downs - 10-12 Reps, 3 Sets

Barbell Curls - 10-12 Reps, 3 Sets

Standing Calf Raises - 15-20 Reps, 3 Sets

Your first month is mainly about learning how to perform the exercises correctly, you should be using a weight that easily allows you to execute the recommended number of reps.

Trial and error with weights really is the easiest and fastest way to get started. Make your first session of trying different weight to allow comfortable working weight. There are more complicated ways to work out starting weights but this method works well enough.

Proper performance, diet, rest and many other factors is critical. Doing an exercise with poor form can easily lead to injuries, not eating enough or the right food does not allow for growth, these factors and many more can limit your progress. The point is to make the muscles work hard in a methodical fashion, and to consume the right food at the right time.
